A postal code is a string in the form A1A 1A1, always uppercase and always written with the space. The letters D, F, I, O, Q and U are never used in any position, and W and Z are not used in the first position.
Northwest Territories and Nunavut share the postal district X, so a postal code alone cannot identify which of the two a record belongs to.
